Training
Frank Selinger is St. Geoge’s experienced show jumping instructor. He has 32 Grand Prix wins in his list of accomplishments along with a bronze medal in the Pan American games and has competed
at Spruce Meadows on three of Canada’s Nations Cup teams. He also coached the North American Young Rider’s Team and the Malaysian equestrian team.
Under the tutelage of Frank, riders at St. George’s gain experience riding difficult natural obstacles and the courses Frank strategically designs with his brilliantly restored jumps. Along with the brightly colored rails, the Grand Prix field at St. George’s contains an open water jump, small liver pool, hump, dry ditch, graub, table top, brush, and a large bank.
Along with the grass Grand Prix field, facilities at St. George’s includes a heated indoor ring and an outdoor sand ring. Only indoor boarding available with full turnout. Please contact Frank or Selena for further training and/or boarding information.
Students of Frank have the opportunity to train in the St. George’s Grand Prix field. The field was originally designed by Pamela Carruthers around the time that Spruce Meadows came to be. She also gave her insight to the Southerns, who were also clients of St. George’s at the time, for the rings at Spruce Meadows. The St. George’s Ring is similar to the All-Canada ring at Spruce in that it is not flat, but undulating with definite slope to it. And for that reason, the All-Canada Ring is arguably one of the most difficult rings to ride in North America.
